Homeopathic Medicine

The founder of homeopathy was Dr Samuel Hahnemann over 200 years ago. During his time he worked tirelessly, proving to those most against his principals that homoepathy was here to stay and that it worked.

There have been countless times where upon Dr Hahnemann, used homeopathic medicine and

Samuel Hahnemann

After moving to Leipzig in 1789 where Dr Hahnemann demonstrated his theory by using the Peruvian Bark “Cinchona Officinalis” used for treating malaria in south American and Europe. He established that taking this drug promoted like symptoms of that of malaria, the symptoms of which lasted just a few hours. Hahnemann stated “Cinchona bark, which is used as a remedy for intermittent fever (malaria), acts because it can produce symptoms to those of intermittent fever in healthy people”. Hahnemann clearly established and confirmed the basic foundation of his new system of medicine homeopathy. A significant breakthrough in homeopathy.
In the spring of 1792 Hahnemann attained the task of treating Herr Klockenbring who was suffering from mental illness. In treating Klockenbring, he developed a pattern of treating insanity patients avoiding the common orthodox medical approaches including chain restraints, being whipped and allowing visitors to amuse themselves by teasing patients. As a result of this period of research he published “Pharmaceutical Lexicon” breaking new grounds in the preparation of medicine. Many of his theories including quality and control are still recognised today as proper practice. This clearly shows Hahnemann’s determination to practice his ideas ignoring those that mocked him.
In October 1813, Hahnemann’s lecturing was interrupted by the battle of Leipzig. An outbreak of typhus followed the battle giving Hahnemann the opportunity to demonstrate the qualities of his treatments. In fact the results were overwhelming. Mortality rates with conventional medicine reached 50%. Out of 180 patients treated with homeopathy remedies only 2 died. I feel this is possible the biggest breakthrough in the history of homeopathy. These results changed opinion amongst sceptics giving Hahnemann the opportunity to continue his research. The results were published in his book “Materia Medica Pura”, still regarded as a reference edition for homeopaths.

In 1838 “The Chronic Diseases, their Peculiar Nature and their Homoeopathic Cure” was published. Volume 2 refers to “Vital force” describing the body’s natural healing power. He Stated “It is certain that the vital forces (or dynamis) may achieve victory over disease without inflicting losses on the body, they are assisted and directed in their action by a properly selected homeopathic remedy”. The introduction of the “vital force” gave rise to metaphysical aspects of homeopathy, removing his previous essential scientific approach.
